RIYADH, 1 May 2006 — Hoards of beggars hanging around mosques is an all too familiar site.

It is around the mosques where they earn most of their money by reminding worshippers of their religious duty to help the poor.

It never occurred to three beggars that their end would be inside of a mosque, Al-Watan reported. As the prayer ended, they took up positions on the exits of the mosque.

The beggars did not know that the imam of the mosque was waging a campaign against them. The imam closed the mosque doors and detained the three beggars with the help of some worshippers. He then notified police and the anti-beggary department who came and arrested the beggars.
