DUBAI, 1 September 2006 — A number of school principals, senior officials and teachers who have been involved in the education sector for more than 30 years were honored yesterday at the Al-Reef Mall for their outstanding services to education in the Emirates.
The event, organized by the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) in coordination with the Dubai Educational Zone, comes as part of the Back-2-School Summer Surprises Activity Week 2006.
The Director of the Dubai Educational Zone Khalid Al Kassim, and the head of the Organizing Committee of the Back-2-School Surprises Sultan Ali Lootah selected and then honored the educational personalities.
“Investing in education and human capital has been our leadership’s priority since the inception of the UAE. The UAE’s wealth of quality human resources in the education sector has been a catalyst for development and growth in the country,” said Al-Kassim.
“Through honoring these teachers, the Back-2-School Surprises commemorates the role of education in driving progress and development in the country,” he added.
“The honoring ceremony is a show of gratitude to those who have sacrificed most of their lives teaching and educating generations that have had a positive impact on the development and growth of our country. We are honoring these icons today to highlight their efforts and accomplishments in elevating the level of the education in the UAE,” said Ibn Fares.
As part of the Back-2-School Summer Surprises Activity, the Mall of the Emirates, in association with DED, has organized a series of workshops including “School Fantasy,” and the painting workshop entitled “Imagine your future,” events that are designed to give up and coming budding talented youngsters a chance to showcase their skills.
