The man said that he was unemployed but insisted that he did not want a financial reward for donating his kidney. His restricted financial situation has helped him realize that instead of being greedy, he should help those in need. The only reward he is seeking is God’s blessing.
Double Divorce for Mother and Daughter
JEDDAH, 2 November 2006 — A Saudi mother and daughter were left distraught after being divorced on the same day, the Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. The 17-year-old daughter had only been married for a few days when she was divorced. Her husband alleged that she had been speaking intimately with other men on her cell phone. The mother tried to resolve the disagreement but a few hours later had her own crisis. She had been involved in a bitter divorce battle for the past couple of months and coincidentally, the judge made her divorce official only hours after her daughter had been divorced. Both mother and daughter returned to their respective fathers’ homes wondering if the irony of the situation was a sign that perhaps what happened, happened for the best.
Misyar Gang Busted in Riyadh
RIYADH, 2 November 2006 — Police arrested a man and a woman here who enticed Saudi men with promises of beautiful Misyar brides, led them to an isolated area and then robbed them. Men were lured to remote locations in order to meet their prospective partners only to find themselves tied, gagged and then robbed. One Saudi man, after being robbed of more than SR20,000, filed a report with the police, who managed to track the couple down and arrest them.
