JEDDAH, 5 September 2006 — The Consulate General of India is organizing its annual mushaira at the International Indian School, Jeddah, (Boys Section) auditorium at 9 p.m. on Sept. 14.

Indian expatriates interested in attending the mushaira have been requested to send their names, valid iqama numbers and contact telephone numbers today and tomorrow to the consulate at fax No: 02-6533964 or e-mail: [email protected].

The cards will be issued on first-come-first-served basis and the list of invitees will be displayed on the consulate website www.cgijeddah.com on Sept. 10. All those whose names figure in the list can collect their invitation passes on Sept. 11 and 12 from the consulate.

Fifteen leading poets from India have been invited for the event. They include: Mumtaz Rashid, Bashar Nawaz and Abdul Ahad Saaz (Maharashtra); Makhmoor Saeedi (Rajasthan); Aadil Luknavi, Azhar Inayati, Anwar Jalalpuri, Haq Kanpuri and Dr. Tajwar Mahjoor Sultana (UP); Muzaffaruddin Abdali (Bihar); Dr. Shahpar Rasool, Naseem Nikhat and Mazhar Imam (Delhi); and Mustafa Ali Baig and Himayatullah (Hyderabad). Mazhar Imam will preside over and Anwar Jalalpuri will conduct the mushaira.

Eight poets are coming for the first time and six others had participated more than four years ago. The Mushaira will be repeated in Riyadh on Sept. 21.
