PATNA, 5 September 2006 — Senior Congress party leader and former chief minister of the eastern state of Bihar Satyendra Narayan Sinha, popularly known as Chote Saheb,” died here yesterday. He will be cremated here at Bans Ghat today with full state honor. A two-day state mourning has been declared as mark of respect for the octogenarian leader. A widely respected leader, Sinha, represented Aurangabad parliamentary constituency for several terms. Now his son, Nikhil Kumar, represents the constituency. Sinha became chief minister of the state in 1989. He was also a leading leader of JP movement. Hundreds of his supporters and senior leaders paid him floral tributes. Sinha’s body has been kept in state at his residence for public to pay their last respect. His last journey will start at 9 a.m. today.
