DUBAI, 12 May 2006 — Dubai will host the first GCC Family Business Forum at JW Marriott Hotel from June 6-8. The Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry are participating in the forum, which will discuss the legislative, organizational, domestic, local and international challenges of family business prevailing across the GCC.
Majed Garoub, president of the consulting committee of the forum announced that students and academics were invited to attend free of charge. “Family businesses are encountering internal challenges, especially in matters related to ownership, succession and management. These and other relevant issues will be covered in the forum,” he said.
The Forum aims to tackle the challenges facing the GCC family business and discuss ways and means of providing solutions in the interest of their continuity, and also in the context of globalization. “The forum will have a discussion on the impact of globalization on family businesses, especially in ownership, succession and management matters.”
