JEDDAH, 17 May 2006 — After his sons and daughters and most of the grown up grandchildren acquired bachelors and master’s degrees, Musa ibn Muhammad Al-Jalaidi Al-Harbi, 64, of Qassim vowed that he would not rest until he became a university graduate. It was not just an old man’s drivel; he meant it. He presented himself at nearby Qassim university and said he wanted to take a degree. The university was only too happy to comply with the wish of this rare student. The old man was admitted to a degree course of his choice, which he completed in due course. But, Al-Madinah daily reported yesterday, he got more than he expected when Qassim Governor Faisal ibn Bandar awarded him the degree and congratulated him on achieving the rare distinction of being the oldest university graduate in the Kingdom.
