JEDDAH, 24 November 2006 — A Saudi mother took matters into her own hands after getting sick and tired of her ex-husband neglecting his parental responsibility in taking their children to school, the daily Al-Madinah reported. The woman decided to drive them to school, which shocked other commuters when they saw a woman behind the steering wheel. “It’s legal for a man to neglect his kids, but illegal for a woman to drive her own children to school?” she asked when arrested by cops.
Woman Deemed Dead Surprises Family
WADI AL-DAWASSR, 24 November 2006 — An elderly woman who passed out from a sudden drop in blood pressure in this town near Riyadh and was declared dead, apparently gave her family a turn when she started breathing again, the daily Al-Madinah reported. The family was on their way to obtain a death certificate when the old woman came alive. The mourning turned into an impromptu celebration.
