JEDDAH, 24 November 2006 — The regular season games of the Saudi Basketball League started yesterday at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here with Al-Ittihad, fresh off their win at the Al Jawal tournament in Madinah, crushing Al Masira 107-50.
Ittihad imports were in great form. Tony Madison showed his game giving a glimpse of the team to beat this year. The game was a no contest from the start. Ittihad gave the bench plenty of playing minutes and had fun.
In the second game, Al-Ahli beat Al-Wehda 76 -56. Ahli’s import Kenny Tate scored 20 points in a romp showing some nice passing and defending. Wehda’s Rashad Barnawi scored 18. The young players at Wehda showed promise and if the team had a big man they can be a contender this year.
In Madinah, Al-Ansar beat Nahda 75 -59 in a fast paced game.
At press time, Ohud faced Qadisiya in the last game.
Today’s games are Ahli against Masira and Ittihad against Wehda in Jeddah. Madinah games feature Ohud against Al-Nahda and Ansar against Qadisiya.
