DULAM, 25 May 2006 — A marriage ceremony was canceled after police found the bride in the trunk of the groom’s car, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday. The reason for this odd procedure was that the bride didn’t have her legal residency papers (iqama) and in order to pass a checkpoint the bride hid in the trunk of her would-be husband’s car. Police noticed the groom acting suspicious, searched the car and found the woman in the trunk.
