RIYADH, 26 May 2006 — AlZamil Group and Industries Chimiques du Fluor (ICF) of Tunisia announced yesterday its intention to form a joint venture to build a world scale aluminum fluoride manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.
The plant will produce aluminum fluoride to the requirements and specifications of some of the major world aluminum smelters operators. Aluminum fluoride serves as a solvent in the aluminum smelting industry. The plant is expected to become operational in late 2008.
“This investment will help meet the GCC and other neighboring countries demand for aluminum fluoride, especially with the coming new aluminum smelting capacities in the area,” ICF President and Director Lakhdar Tlili said. “It’s a critical component of ICF growth strategy for our aluminum fluoride business. We could not be more pleased with AlZamil’s desire to join us in this business.”
Osama Al-Zamil, General Manager, AlZamil Business Development Department, Riyadh said: “AlZamil Group investing in aluminum fluoride is in line with its investment policy in specialty and intermediate chemicals and where the venture will have a captive market in the GCC. It’s another opportunity for the cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries.”
