Easy Docking With the Penta IPS Joystick
The Volvo Penta IPS system allows easy boat docking even in very congested harbors. With double forward-facing propellers and steerable drive units, boats equipped with the Volvo Penta IPS are significantly easier to maneuver than boats with traditional inboard shafts.
The new IPS Joystick, which becomes available in August, works with the Volvo Penta IPS system, so that with just a few simple hand movements, the largest boats can be placed gently against the dock. The driver only needs to push the joystick in the direction desired to make the boat move in that direction. The brain behind the maneuvers is the electronic vessel control (EVC) system, which transforms the driver’s joystick commands into specific throttle, gear and steering instructions.
The Volvo Penta IPS Joystick can be installed on all boats equipped with Volvo Penta IPS and also as retrofit. The joystick is mounted in a suitable position and connected to the EVC system, into which a new software program is installed. The joystick is ergonomically designed, with recessed push-buttons, to prevent the system from being activated by mistake. The unit is splash-proof and can be permanently mounted externally.

Toshiba’s First Dolby Home Theater Notebook
The latest addition to Toshiba’s Qosmio series of AV-Notebook PCs, features for the first time in a notebook, Dolby Home Theater technology. The Qosmio F30 offers a fully integrated TV tuner, digital video recorder (DVR), high-end audio functionality and all the computing capabilities of a superior notebook PC. The Qosmio F30 retails for $2,190.
The Dolby Home Theater technology is combined with 1-bit digital amplifier, Harmon Kardon bass-reflection speakers and the QosmioEngine. Through the QosmioPlayer, DVD, CD and TV content can be played after just a few seconds of turning on the notebook without booting the operating system. The viewing experience is enhanced with the Toshiba TruBrite display. The QosmioEngine further improves the latest features to the Qosmio range by providing picture clarity, reducing distortion and allowing users to enjoy responsive images that are clear, crisp, bright and smooth.
