JEDDAH, 2 November 2006 — Prince Nawwaf ibn Faisal, deputy-president of General Presidency Youth Welfare and Saudi Football Federation, announced on Tuesday the names of 24 probables for the Saudi national football team that will face Japan in the Asian Cup 2007 qualifying matches. The squad will enter training camp in Riyadh from Nov. 5. The 24 players are: Omar Al-Ghamdi, Khalid Aziz, Mohammed Al-Shalhoub, Yassir Al-Qahtani, Ahmed Al-Suwaeileh, Badr Al-Hagbani, Mohammed Khoja, Hassan Moath, Abduh Atif, Osamah Hawasawi, Kamil Al-Moussa, Issa Al-Mihiyani, Rida Takar, Hamad Al-Muntashiri, Osamah Al-Harbi, Salih Al-Sagri, Ahmed Al-Doukhi, Soud Kariri, Mohammed Amin, Moustafa Malaikah, Yassir Al-Misilim, Malik Moath, Hussain Abdulghani and Mohammed Mosaad.
Hilal Team Punishment
JEDDAH, 2 November 2006 — The Saudi Football Federation has shifted Al-Hilal’s home match against Taie from Riyadh to Hail as punishment for their fans’ unruly behavior toward Al-Ittihad fans during the Saudi soccer league match won by Hilal 2-1 on Sunday. The taunts by Hilal fans were deemed inappropriate by the federation.
Marketing Agreement
JEDDAH, 2 November 2006 — Youth Welfare, Saudi Football Federation and Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee President Prince Sultan ibn Fahd signed a marketing contract on Tuesday with Mobily. Mobily has been appointed to be in charge of the marketing requirements of the country’s national Olympic committee for a period of two years.
Camel Race in Tabuk
JEDDAH, 2 November 2006 — The 15th Camel Race in Tabuk kicked of yesterday and will run until tomorrow. There will be 10 camel races in addition to two side races featuring stallions. According to SPA, more than 10, 000 camels are participating at the race. Prince Fahd ibn Sultan, governor of Tabuk, ordered a separate beauty contest of camels to be held at the end of the race.
