RABAT, 7 August 2006 — Moroccan comedian Muhammad Al-Jam was honored at a cultural and art festival held in the Bani Ammar village of the Meknes province recently, Asharq Al-Awsat reported yesterday.
A major feature of the occasion was a small documentary highlighting Al-Jam’s most memorable acting achievements. The audience, which came from all over the country, cheered the actor enthusiastically. Fans swarmed the actor as he left the stage.
Over the past 36 years, he has struggled to make a name for himself both as a playwright and an actor. He became a star attraction in both Moroccan theater and cinema with his trademark short pants and red cap; he made people laugh heartily as he presented various social problems and contradictions in everyday life.
