RIYADH, 13 June 2006 — Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, discussed social and economic issues including future investment opportunities during his visit to Guinea-Bissau last week.
The prince held meeting with Prime Minister Aristides Gomes and Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation António Isaac Monteiro and discussed bilateral issues including future investment opportunities in the country.
Prince Alwaleed also met with Guinea-Bissau President João Bernardo Vieira. The two discussed social and economic issues. The discussion focused on the potential activities of KHC’s 3 affiliate investment vehicles — HSBC-Kingdom, Kingdom-Zephyr (KZAM) and Kingdom Hotels Investments (KHI). “We’re here to assist the people of Bissau as well as to look at ways to help in building the economy through investment,” said Prince Alwaleed.
The prince also expressed his readiness to help the 30,000 famine stricken people south of the country through the UN World Food Program.
Also during the visit, the president bestowed on Prince Alwaleed the “National Medal of Merit for Cooperative Development.”
During his last visit to Guinea-Bissau in 2005, Prince Alwaleed had met with Guinea-Bissau’s First Lady. The two discussed how best to help women and children in need. The prince expressed his readiness to contribute where help was required.
