RIYADH, 15 June 2006 — The Pakistan International School, Riyadh, (PISR) raised SR79,000 by organizing a fair to fund urgent maintenance work of the school.
The fair called Meena Bazar was opened by Manzar Hafeez Mian, counselor at the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, and attended by some 6,000 people including women and children.
School principal Mohammed Yusuf Gauri said yesterday the whole idea of organizing the event was to provide children and parents an opportunity to enjoy and contribute to a noble cause.
The school is the largest Pakistani school in the Kingdom with over 8,000 students and 400 teachers.
Gauri also spoke about the activities of the school saying the PISR had organized three training sessions for teachers this year and started publishing a newsletter since May.
The money raised from the fair would also be used for the development of the school.
