JEDDAH, 15 June 2006 — Conmen across the Kingdom are on the prowl looking for naïve members of the public who are still aching from the recent market crash in the Kingdom. Fraudsters are approaching gullible people, mainly women teachers, saying they can get hold of Saudi Telecom Company’s Sawa cards in bulk at unbelievably cheap prices and sell them to retailers at highly profitable rates. The conmen assure investors they would give them a share in the profit. Several women teachers have already fallen for the scam investing large amounts of cash with the scammers. Sources at Saudi Telecom Company deny the existence of such cheap offers. It does seem people in the Kingdom are out to make a quick buck and don’t seem to learn from past mistakes.
