JEDDAH, 17 June 2006 — And the problem of student violence against teachers continues. The Arabic daily Al-Watan reported yesterday that three high school students in Uhd Rafeeda beat up their teacher for giving them failing grades. In front of classmates and bystanders the lads shamelessly assaulted their teacher. The teacher was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment while the youths were hauled off to jail pending an investigation by local cops. The Kingdom’s high school teachers often fear reprisals from students when grades come out.
