JEDDAH, 19 June 2006 — Pakistan’s defense budget is of 250 billion Pakistani rupees ($4.167 billion) for the financial year 2006-07 and not 2,150 billion rupees ($35.9 billion) as was mentioned in the Arab News report captioned “Pak Defense Budget OK’d,” according to a clarification from the Pakistan Consulate yesterday. The total budget outlay for the financial year 2006-07 is 1,315 billion rupees, which is 9.7 percent higher than the size of budget estimates of 2005-06.
Pakistan Consulate Cautions Community
JEDDAH, 19 June 2006 — The Consulate General of Pakistan yesterday advised its community exercise due caution against any advertisements, false notifications or communications through letters of e-mail that are tantamount to dupe them financially. The caution comes in the wake of complaints from a large number of people that they have been affected by a lottery scam and deprived of their hard-earned money by fraudulent companies in Europe and elsewhere.
