MADINAH, 21 June 2006 — Adel Al-Harbi is a little worried that the child his wife gave birth to just might be in the arms of another mother somewhere, Al-Watan daily reported yesterday. The father’s doubts were raised after he discovered that the baby the nurses in a Madinah maternity ward brought in had the name of a different mother on its wristband. Hospital staffers then scrambled about to find Al-Harbi’s actual child, and came in later with another baby. Problem solved, right? Wrong. That kind of mix-up would concern most people, including the Al-Harbis. The father has filed a complaint at the Ministry of Health. And in order to eliminate what would otherwise be a tinge of doubt floating at the back of the father’s mind for the rest of his life, he’s demanding a DNA test to prove that the newborn is in fact his.
