MADINAH, 23 October 2006 — Residents of the Al-Seeh neighborhood were shocked following the discovery of a body of a new-born baby in a garbage container. The body was left inside a box and was initially discovered by young children who had taken the box out to play with. Police officers arrived at the location to take evidence and said that the baby, a boy, was just three hours old. Officers said the baby was most likely left after Maghreb prayers when the streets are usually empty and people are busy with iftar.
Police Shoot Violent Man in Qurayyat
QURAYYAT, 23 October 2006 — A Saudi man was taken to hospital after police shot him in the foot in order to stop him from behaving violently. Police said they went to a certain location after receiving a report of a fight between two neighbors. On arriving at the place they discovered three men fighting. It was then that one of the men began smashing the police officers’ car windows. Officers called for further backup to help them take control of the situation, while the man continued smashing car windows. It was then that the officers realized that the man was wanted in relation to some other security-related case. Police say they found no other way to stop him behaving violently but to shoot him in the foot. The man was taken to a hospital in Qurayyat.
