JEDDAH, 26 June 2006 — A shepherd in the village of Dalam spotted two of his missing sheep seconds before they were about to be slaughtered for a special Arabian dish called “Mandi” at a butcher’s shop, the Okaz daily reported. The shepherd told the butcher that he was the owner of the sheep and that he had been looking for them for the past few days. The butcher refused to part with the sheep and insisted that he had bought them from a Saudi man a couple of days ago. The slaughter was carried out and police are presently investigating the case.
