KHAMIS MUSHAYT, 29 June 2006 — A housemaid working for a four-sister musical troupe was beaten up black and blue and thrown out to the street for allegedly refusing to prepare a meal for her hungry employers. A report by the Okaz daily said the incident happened after the sisters returned home late at night after performing at a wedding in Khamis Mushayt, during which they complained of being paid lower than their usual rate even after swinging their hips and hair all night to entertain guests. Moreover, some haughty guests reportedly mocked them by saying they didn’t like the performance. On reaching home the sisters vented their ire on the defenseless maid. While the maid was wandering around the neighborhood, a police patrol saw her and picked her up. Contacted by the police, the four sisters said they wanted their maid deported because she had slipped out at night to spend time with one of her lovers, the report said.
