MOSCOW – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Riyadh Governor Prince Salman discussed the developments in the Middle East particularly the current situation in Iraq and Palestine in a reception held at Kremlin yesterday.
Prince Salman, who arrived in Moscow on a state visit to Russian Republic on Monday, handed a written message from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to President Putin during the meeting. Prince Salman also conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation to President Putin.
The discussions during the two-hour long meeting between the president and the prince were described as “marked with openness.” They also discussed the growing Saudi –Russian bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Prince Faisal ibn Salman, chairman of the Saudi Research and Marketing Group, and Hassan Wali, Saudi Ambassador to Russia also attended the meeting.
Earlier on the day, Prince Salman received ambassadors of Arab countries in Russia and discussed with them the latest developments in Palestine and Iraq, terror and the role of Saudi Arabia in resolving the issues.
Commending on the present situation in Iraq Prince Salman said “Being a land of seven-millennium rich cultural heritage what is happening there is a shame.”
Prince Salman also discussed at length the efforts that have been made to settle the Palestinian issue since its beginning to the present time.
The prince also visited the headquarters of the Muslim religious administration in Russia.
