ABU DHABI, 3 November 2006 — The city hosted yesterday the First International Energy 2030 Conference on Energy Resources and Technologies that brought together top corporate executives and eminent academics from around the world. Organized by the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi under the auspices of Gen. Sheikh Mohammed ibn Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi crown prince and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the 2-day forum has its primary focus on sharing views and information critical in the strategic planning and development in oil and gas and broader areas of energy. In his opening speech, UAE minister of Energy Mohammed ibn Dhaen Al Hameli said: “OPEC estimates growth in demand over the period 2004-2003 at 1.5 percent per year (pushing) the world demand for oil in 2030 at 121 mbpd.
