JEDDAH, 3 November 2006 — Saudi Arabian Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding with the Turkish Department of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) to transport Turkish pilgrims for this year’s Haj season. The agreement is for transporting around 62,853 Turkish pilgrims aboard 219 flights from five Turkish cities (Istanbul, Ankara, Azmeer, Anatolia, Azana) to Jeddah and Madinah airports. The airline also signed MoU with the Indonesian Religious Affairs Ministry for transporting 86488 Indonesian pilgrims and with the Malaysian Haj and Visitation Organization to transport 44,000 Malaysian pilgrims. These are among several agreements Saudia is seeking to sign with a number of Islamic countries.
