DAMMAM, 8 July 2006 — Police have arrested an expatriate who allegedly killed a Saudi following quarrel, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.
According to police sources, witnesses said a 19-year-old Eritrean had a heated exchange of words with the Saudi, who lived in the same neighborhood, around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. The Eritrean then took out a large knife and stabbed the other. The suspect then fled the city in a taxi on his way to Riyadh. He was picked up at a checkpoint near Riyadh Thursday morning and handed over to the Dammam police. The motive for the crime was unknown.
Yemeni Attacked in Family Feud
A Saudi youth stabbed a Yemeni following a protracted family feud, press reports said yesterday.
The Yemeni was working in a mobile phone shop in Tabuk city. The Saudi came to the shop while no one was around and stabbed the Yemeni in the chest. The victim was in critical condition at King Khaled Hospital in Tabuk.
Worker Knocked Down
Dammam police are investigating allegations by an Asian worker that his manager had attempted to kill him by running his car over him, Al-Watan reported yesterday.
According to witnesses, the Asian was pleading with the Arab manager, who was about to leave in his car, to make arrangements for his return home after paying his salary arrears. The Asian said he had been working in the company for the past four years and had not taken any vacation.
Ignoring the worker’s plea, the Arab sped off. The worker, who was clinging on to the car’s window, fell on the road and one of the tires ran over him.
The worker protested when emergency workers tried to move him to hospital saying that he wanted to go home, not to hospital. He claimed that his manager was taking an easy way to solve the dispute by killing him.
