DUBAI, 12 July 2006 — Manish Malhotra, India’s leading celebrity fashion designer and style icon, opened his flagship store “Manish Malhotra” in Dubai on Monday. A host of celebrity guests and eminent Bollywood stars including Urmila Matondkar, Kareena Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor attended the opening.
Located opposite the Mercato mall in Jumeirah, more than half of the clothes at the store will be Bombay-made traditional wear, while the rest will consist of new designs catering to Arab and Western customers.
Manish Malhotra has teamed up with Saif Belhasa Group of Companies, who will be the franchisers for the store, not only in Dubai but also in the rest of the GCC countries where similar stores are scheduled to open.
Speaking at the opening, Manish said, “Dubai was an obvious choice for me when I was planning on opening my first store. Very few cities in the world have so much to offer in terms of cultural diversity, affluence, infrastructure and the overall drive for excellence and growth. Moreover, Dubai is a prefect blend of traditional values and modernity, which in more ways than one reflect the essence of my designs.”
