MAKKAH, 15 July 2006 — An unusual number of newspaper delivery boys have been getting beaten up in recent days in Makkah for delivering the papers late, the daily Okaz reported yesterday. One boy was attacked on Thursday when delivering a stack of papers to a newsstand in Makkah’s Maabid District. Eight similar incidents are under investigation. One boy said a subscriber threatened him with violence if the paper was late again. According to another report, someone stole hundreds of copies of a boy’s newspapers as he went inside to deliver copies to a local store.
