LAS VEGAS, Nevada, 15 July 2006 — “Sugar” Shane Mosley is counting on victory being just as sweet the second time around when he faces fellow American Fernando Vargas here Saturday in a light middleweight showdown.
Three-time former world champion Mosley, 42-4 with 36 knockouts, stopped Vargas, 26-3 with 14 knockouts, in the 10th round in February and is set for a repeat.
“The first time I figured you out, the second time is going to be a breeze,” Mosley said.
Mosley dismissed Vargas comments about his worst damage coming from Mosley head butts, saying such false hope from his rival’s handlers gave him greater confidence.
“I think he’s going to come out and do the same thing. It will most likely end in a stoppage. I don’t know if it will be a knockout but it will probably be stopped again.”
