JEDDAH, 19 July 2006 — Leading Egyptian stage and film actors, particularly comedians, have been appearing with Saudi actors in plays across Jeddah and Taif this summer, the Al-Watan newspaper reported yesterday.
Egyptian actors Ahmad Budair, Omar Al-Hariri, Hassan Hosni, Muhammad Najm, Muhammad Al-Sawi, Muhamoud Al-Qalawi and Mazhar Abu Al-Naja are just some of the Egyptian actors who are performing at various picnic centers across Jeddah.
Budair, who is appearing in a comedy play along side Saudi actor Mamdouh Salem, explained why he loves performing here.
“My annual visit to Saudi Arabia gives me a chance to meet the Saudi public, particularly families who are not able to travel abroad. Feedback for my performances is always positive, the Saudi public have a good taste for art and a high sense of humor to enjoy comedy presentations.”
Muhammad Najm, another Egyptian actor who presented a theatrical show in Jizan last year, said he planned to also appear in a new play in Taif later this summer.
