RIYADH, 21 October 2006 — Two jewelry exhibitions were held here as part of a collecting featuring aesthetic designs in gems and jewelry.

In one event held at the Harvey Nichols store at Riyadh’s Al-Faisaliah Mall, Azza Fahmy launched her winter 2006 collections under the theme “Poetry Adorned” and “Exclusive”. Azza Fahmy who put it across succinctly when she said defined the theme of the show: “People relate to words, and my jewelry relates to people.”

In another event, Damas has launched a whole new collection of special jewelry sets for Ramadan, along with other attractive offers. The road show at Harvey Nichols brought together the Kingdom’s leading socialites, intellectuals and jewelry connoisseurs. The “Poetry Adorned” is a fusion of different inspirations from old Byzantine designs, Arab motifs and Egyptian necklaces of the 19th century. It combines them with rich verses by various Arab poets such as Elia Abou Madi, Fadwa Touqan and Ahmed Rami, whose powerful expressions are soul stirring and also rich in imagery.

The “Exclusive”, on the other hand, is a collection of individual masterpieces, produced in limited numbers and incorporating the most precious stones, materials and craftsmanship. Together, they lend an artistic expression to jewelry endowed with a quality that will stand the test of time.

The second exhibition was inspired by Bahraini designs and craftsmanship. It formed part of the latest Ramadan collection featuring attractive handcrafted jewelry in 21 kt white and yellow gold set with precious stones and pearls. There are also delicate designs such as shades of blue and red brought on by the precious stones in the jewelry setting of white and yellow gold. This collection is available in matching sets of earrings, pendants, necklaces, rings and bracelets, according to the organizers.
