JEDDAH, 24 July 2006 — Saudi actor Hassan Asiri has expressed his disappointment at not being able to complete the shooting of his new television series because of the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Lebanon.
Asiri was filming a television series called “Aswar” at various locations across Lebanon and had 120 days left to complete outdoor shoots when the present Middle East crisis erupted.
“Aswar,” which was supposed to be released in September, focuses on various social issues faced by Saudi women.
“The serial is a qualitative shift in terms of content and performance as it deals for the first time with extremely sensitive social issues in the Kingdom,” Al-Watan quoted Asiri as saying.
The series’ cast includes Asmahan Tawfiq, Zahrah Arafat, Abir Ahmad and Maysan Maghrabi.
