RIYADH, 24 July 2006 — Shoes began to fly followed closely by flying chairs as a massive catfight took place between women guests at a wedding in the city. What started off as a happy event soon ended up with screaming and shrilling women with disheveled hair scratching each other, poking eyes out and pulling hair, reported the Al-Jazirah newspaper. The brawl took place after the feisty sister of the bride asked the band to play a song dedicated to her sister. Wanting not to be seen outdone, the sister of the groom in turn insisted that the band first play a song dedicated to her brother. The pair soon began shouting and screaming and soon women from both sides of the family were involved in a massive brawl. The fight finally ended with grannies from the two families jumping in to bring the brawl to an end. It is not clear what song was played.
