JEDDAH, 23 November 2006 — A guy breaking into vehicles near a mosque here thought he could get rid of some evidence by tossing a bag of stolen goodies into the back of a patrol car, the daily Okaz reported yesterday. A Good Samaritan noticed that the man was breaking a car window near a mosque and stealing a handbag that turned out to contain a few thousand riyals and an expensive watch. When police were approaching the thief as he was walking away, the man tried to get rid of the bag by tossing it into the back of a car that had a window open — a car that turned out to be a security vehicle belonging to one of the officers that was following him.
Electrical Workers Attacked by Freeloader
RAS TANURA, 23 November 2006 — Police arrested an irate Saudi who attacked employees of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) as they were about to disconnect the power to his house for not paying his bills, the daily Okaz reported yesterday. As the workers began to cut the wires, the man ran out of his home and assaulted the workers with an iron pipe. One worker suffered a head injury while the other a hand fracture. The man also took out his rage on the power company’s vehicle by breaking three windows. He also broke the window of a police car as officers dragged him off to jail where the man was able to enjoy the continued pleasure of using electricity at someone else’s expense.
