MAKKAH, 2 August 2006 — The Makkah police are investigating a complaint against two men accused of robbing a car-rental shop and assaulting a worker. According to Al-Madinah newspaper, the two men allegedly came to the car rental in the Al-Sharaie district claiming that they wanted to rent a car. An employee asked them to fill out the required forms and show him their identity papers. When the worker found out that the photo in the ID had been tampered with, he refused to deal with them. This angered the men who then assaulted the employee and fled with SR5,000 they took from the premises. The bleeding worker went after his assailants, noted the number of their car and notified the police.
