RIYADH, 28 August 2006 — The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers — Riyadh chapter (PICE-Riyadh) will conduct a seminar on Structural Analysis Program (SAP 2000) for four consecutive Fridays starting Sept. 1 at the Elite International School.
It will be open to Filipino civil and structural engineers and other professionals in Riyadh and nearby places who have basic knowledge on theories and principles of structural analysis and design.
“In today’s rapid phase of changing technology, employees who have complex knowledge beyond their regular duties have greater chances of reaching the top corporate ladder. We should grab the opportunity to learn new things every time we get that chance. I think this seminar is just one of those opportunities,” said Leonardo Quito, PRO of PICE-Riyadh.
SAP2000 is an analysis and design software developed to aid users to come up with a faster and more accurate result in analyzing and designing simple to complex horizontal and vertical structures. It features powerful and completely integrated modules for design of both steel and reinforced concrete. “The seminar aims to provide the participants knowledge in performing integrated finite element analysis and designing structures, from 2D to 3D frames, with the aid of SAP 2000 software, enabling them to have an edge in the field of civil and structural engineering,” Quito added.
To make the activity livelier and more meaningful, the seminar-workshop will be organized in an interactive manner, such that at the end of each topic, participants will be given time to perform the necessary operation to give first-time users hands-on experience.
“Seminars like this do not only expand our knowledge but also expand our network in getting our ‘dream job’ by meeting colleagues who can help us attain that dream,” said Ansel Alarilla, the group’s administrative officer.
Ramon Dimagiba, a practicing structural engineer and a graduate of Bulacan State University in the Philippines, will be the resource speaker.
