JEDDAH, 30 October 2006 — Yasser Al-Qahtani scored the game winner as Al-Hilal beat Al-Ittihad in a derby match last night in the Saudi soccer league first round at the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.
With the win, Hilal move up to the top of the table with 12 points on goal difference over Al-Shabab, a 3-1 winner over Al-Qadisiya in Dammam, while Ittihad drop to third position.
Qahtani sealed the win for Hilal in minutes 85 when he headed in a corner by Nawaf Al- Tumyat.
Ittihad drew first blood in the match after Mexican international Jared Borgetti caught a nice cross from inside the penalty box and drilled in a goal in minutes 45. Hilal equalized in the 60th minute courtesy of a goal by Rodrigo.
Wehda defeated Al-Hazem 5-2 in Makkah to move up to fourth place with 9 points. Al- Hazem slipped to eighth with six points.
