RIYADH, 30 October 2006 — A delegation consisting of seven senior officials from the Ministry of Education left for Japan yesterday to attend a training program on how to improve the school education system in Saudi Arabia.
This tailor-made program has been designed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and comes following a request made by the Kingdom to boost Saudi efforts to modernize and improve the overall school education system.
“This 25-day training program, to end on Nov. 24, will help the Saudi officials to learn more about the Japanese experience in the education sector,” said Kiyfumi Nakauchi, JICA’s resident representative, yesterday.
Nakauchi said that the training would help the participants in capacity building and arm them with new ideas to improve and modernize the school education system in the Kingdom.
“The Saudi officials will also learn as how to solve problems facing the school education in Saudi Arabia,” said JICA chief. The participants will be given an opportunity to understand many aspects of education in Japan including the IT education system there.
