RIYADH, 12 September 2006 — Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) has recently announced the launching of an International roaming service to benefit all of its customers who subscribe to Al Jawal Net or MMS service. STC will use the networks of 53 worldwide operators through joint roaming arrangements to connect Al Jawal to their network.
Al Jawal Net will also offer customers access to browse the Internet using their mobile phone in addition to enjoying new services and benefits such as the downloading of MMS content, the allowance of customers to monitor the stock exchange and the viewing of e-mail with the use of any type of Internet application. These are achieved by connecting the mobile unit to a computer through various data transfer networks (GPRS/EDGE/3G/3.5G) with a high speed of 1.8 MB/second or more.
