MAKKAH, 13 November 2006 — Police are currently interrogating a young Saudi who told an expatriate that he was willing to buy his wife, the daily Okaz reported yesterday. In his complaint to the police, the expatriate said the youth stopped him while he was taking an evening stroll with his wife in the Aziziah district of Makkah and insulted him by asking if he would like to sell his wife. The expatriate said the youth also offered to hire her for any price. When the man tried to show the youngster that the only thing he was willing to rent was his fist, he fled the scene in his car. The offended husband noted the license plate number of the car and reported the matter to police who arrested the youth.
