JEDDAH,15 September 2006 — As expected, Al-Hilal scored a procedural 3-0 victory over Al-Khaleej last night in the Saudi soccer league at Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.

A team loaded with national players, Hilal found Khaleej a tough opponent. But that was only until the 43rd minute when Hilal scored and dictated the tempo of the contest.

Nawaf Al-Tumyat received a nice pass from Omar Al-Ghamdi inside the penalty box and booted in the ball past the far left side of the goalie and into the back of the net for Hilal’s first goal.

Rodrigo scored the second goal from a fine header inside the penalty box after a nice pass from Al-Tumyat.

Hilal so controlled the midfield they frustrated Khaleej’s attempts to get back to the game.

Abdul Aziz Al-Khathran sealed Hilal’s hat-trick of goals in injury time when he drilled in one from inside the penalty box, the ball grazing the left hand side of the goalie into the net.

Hilal join early winners Al-Ahli, Al-Shabab, Al-Ittifaq and Al-Ittihad on three points in the competition.
