ISLAMABAD, 20 September 2006 — Four Saudis held for entering Pakistan without valid visas on Sept. 5 were released by the authorities after questioning.
The Saudis, who hail from Riyadh, entered the Pakistani border town of Taftan from Iran. They had valid visas for Iran but did not carry necessary papers for entering Pakistan.
According to earlier reports the four wanted to get admitted to madrasa in Pakistan.
The Saudi Embassy in Pakistan took up the matter with the government. The young men identified as Abdul Aziz Qahtani, Abdullah Al-Shiyani, Anas Al-Shiyani and Nawaf Al-Shiyani were later released after it was ascertained that they had no link with any terror group. Their ages range between 18 to 25. The four were issued temporary visas and freed.
