TAIF, 24 September 2006 — Saudization, the national policy to replace foreign guest workers with qualified Saudis, is moving ahead in baby steps. But along the way some companies are finding creative ways to cook their Saudization books. The daily Okaz reported yesterday that a concession at the airport in Taif is allegedly hiring Saudis for SR500 ($133) to work for one day just so the company can put them on the books to hoodwink government agencies responsible for tracking Saudi affirmative action quotas at businesses.
