DAMASCUS, 27 September 2006 — Khaled Bin Waleed, the legendary general of the early Muslim battles, has fired the imagination of thousands of storytellers and poets in the Muslim world over the past several centuries. Now Jordanian producer Muhammad Azizah has turned the historical character in to a 60-episode television serial.
“Khaled Bin Waleed” begins with anecdotes of the time before he embraced Islam, and it ends with the wars against the false prophets who challenged the survival of the nascent Muslim nation.
Abdul Karim Naseef, who wrote the story, told Al-Yaum newspaper yesterday that Khaled Bin Waleed is a perfect Arab knight who embodied the qualities of nobility, courage, selflessness, and kindness and above all the military genius, which the modern Arabs are badly in need of.
“While our work is an attempt to do justice to the extraordinary personality of the great Arab general of the seventh century, it also enables us to remove the misunderstandings and misconceptions about Islam,” he said.
