CAIRO, 28 September 2006 — A middle class woman’s rebellion against the social restrictions is the theme of director Hala Khalil’s new movie “Gass Wa Lazeg,” which is ready to be released this Eid Al-Fitr, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.

Rising Egyptian actress Hanan Turk stars as Jameela who is forced to leave the country as she fails to find a job in Egypt.

The shooting of the film, which started a year ago, ran into difficulties following Hanan’s insistence on wearing a hijab after half of the shooting was completed.

The cast includes Sharif Munir, Fatehi Abdul Wahab and Khaled Saleh.
