BISHA, 29 September 2006 — An elderly muezzin lost his monthly salary of SR1,050 ($280) because he didn’t know how to use his ATM card, the Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. Instead he asked a “friend” to withdraw his money for him. He opted not to go with the man and instead waited for him at the mosque. The man returned to say the machine swallowed his card and that he should go to the bank and complain. He did just that and discovered that in fact money had indeed been withdrawn. The old man complained to the police, who are investigating the matter.
