JEDDAH, 1 October 2006 — The Jeddah Hope Center (JHC), an organization set up to help people with special needs, is planning to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by organizing the world’s biggest maze game.
Amin Qari, executive manager of the JHC, said the game along with other activities is part of a major festival that is to be organized by the JHC during the Haj vacation scheduled for early December.
The games will especially dedicated to people with special needs in order to instill a sense of confidence in them and to show that they are not different from other members of society, Qari said.
The festival will include many games that involve physical activity and would prove the abilities of people with special needs, he added.
“This is an attempt to change the wrong image of people with special needs and would help them in their professional life by making them accepted as productive individuals who deserve a chance,” he said.
He added that Tide, Procter and Gamble have sponsored part of the festival’s activities. They still need to have more sponsors in order to come up with a major event that would be the talk of the town.
The response from the private sector has been positive toward the idea, he said, adding that he is expecting to finalize the issue of sponsorship very soon.
