JEDDAH, 2 October 2006 — Eid Al-Fitr holidays for educational institutions will start from Oct. 12 instead of Oct. 18, it was announced yesterday. The change was made on the instructions of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
“As the king wished to allow students and teachers to take rest and engage in prayers in the last 10 days of Ramadan, he has ordered that the Eid Al-Fitr holidays for schools begin from the end of the working day on Oct. 11,” the Royal Court said.
Educational institutions are scheduled to re-open after Eid holidays on Oct. 28.
