DUBAI, 2 October 2006 — A selection of stunning images shot by award-winning photographers is on display at a 10-month charity exhibition that opened yesterday at the Dubai Knowledge Village. Organized by Blink Images, in conjunction with Canon, Tamkeen and the World Food Program (WFP), the exhibition will feature over 300 images shot in the Middle East by local and international photographers.
The exhibition will run until the July 1, 2007 and visitors will have the opportunity to purchase prints of all the photographs on show. Proceeds from the sale will go to Tamkeen, the region’s leading resource center for people with visual impairment and the World Food Program (WFP).
Dr. Ayoub Kazim, executive director of Dubai Knowledge Village, said, “The images presented at the exhibition provide inspiring insights into life and society in the region. Dubai Knowledge Village is keen to support events that promote the arts and we look forward to hosting many more of such events.”
The photographs have been selected from the Arabian Eye collection, a Dubai-based library of images that explore the region’s rich cultural diversity, covering themes as diverse as religion, family, tradition, nature and people.
Photographers featured in the exhibition include Tomasz Gudsowaty, a six-time winner of the World Press Photo Award, and Richard Allenby Pratt, winner of the Middle East Photographer of the Year Award in 2003.
